Cardonald College is a community college in the south-west of Glasgow. It offers a good range of further and higher education programmes. Cardonald College opened in 1972 and provides the highest volume of SFEFC-funded activity of all the Glasgow colleges. The college has 153 full-time lectures, 222 part- time lectures and 215 support staff.
The college’s "Ends Statements" commit it to providing the widest possible access to learning opportunities and to assisting in social and economic regeneration within the community by promoting and providing skills development.The college works in partnership with all other Glasgow colleges and with a number of community and economic regeneration groups to provide a broad range of education and training opportunities. The college offers a broad-based curriculum, particularly at further education level, reflecting its role as a community college, and there is comprehensive coverage of most curriculum areas.
Approximately a quarter of the college’s volume of provision is at higher education level. There is specialist provision in areas such as design, fashion and media and niche areas such as water operations where the college attracts students from a very wide geographical area.
Cardonald College and North Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium have a long history of cooperation, student and staff exchange.The college works closely with employers to ensure responsiveness to changing needs.
