In the Department of Visual Arts, At South Carelia Vocational College in Imatra and Lappeenranta, students can take initial vocational qualifications in six fields pf studies.
Entry Requirements:
To be eligible, students must have completed comprehensive school (age 16+) before entering the programs. However, there are also study options for upper secondary graduates (age 19+). The study programs take tree years to complete and primary aim at the acquisition of skills necessary in working life. In addition, the programs give general eligibility for further studies at universities and other institutions of higher education. The programs also give skills to start working as a professional artist. South Carelia Vocational College feels that international contacts are a necessary step in offering high quality modern education and training.
Vocational Qualification in Visual Expression, Imatra School of Fine Arts: Students are provided with basic skills and techniques in visual expression. In addition to the traditional forms of visual expression such as painting, drawing and sculpture, the program introduces new methods of expression including digital image processing, video graphic, photography and multimedia.
Students can specialize in either fine arts or graphic design.To succeed in this trade, students must commit themselves to studies and learn how to apply their skills in practice independently. After having finished two years of basic studies where all students participate in all subjects the student chooses a major subject with which he or she will work the third year and finish the studies by making the diploma work with the chosen subject.
